ISF Children’s Exhibition and Presentation in As-Suffah School on 19 October 2010

As most of you are aware from the previous academic year, the Muslims Schools in the Greater London area have come together to hold joint functions in which the children can meet each other through participation in various activities. Last academic year, children from nine Muslim schools took part in the Inter-Muslim Schools’ Sports Day which was a huge success. This year, a select number of students from our Rainbow class (Year 6) took part in the ‘Celebration of Qur’an Week’ event at As-Suffah this week, masha Allah. The audience consisted of over 100 students and parents from other Muslim schools.  The various presentations on show ranged from poetry, nasheeds, speeches and role-plays. However, several Head teachers approached our teachers commenting on how our presentation stood out due to the oral Arabic language content the children had prepared; the slide show of the ISF school activities held during this week, and the way that the children sat with sabr and adhaab throughout the 2-hour long event. We are proud of all of our children who worked hard in the few weeks before hand to make this presentation so unique.

Annual Winter Presentation on Friday 5th November 2010:

The Quran, Our Beating Heart

This year, both branches held their presentations on the same day with the theme of “The Qur’an, Our beating Heart’. This followed the week of celebration of the Quran in which the children carried out various activities.

The children performed spectacularly on stage with amazing confidence masha Allah. They all looked cute and smart in their little thobes, abayas, animal outfits, scientists, doctors and ulema costumes, not forgetting the little children dressed as the ansar in Medina who welcomed the Rasullallah sallahu alayhim into their city. Children sang various nasheeds in Arabic and in English including: ‘Talal badlu alayna’, ‘Dastoor nul Quran’ and ‘Animals in the Quran’. Our children also showed great confidence and sabr in going up to the stage and reciting the Mighty Words of Allah SWT during the interchange between the class performances. Children as young as 3 years old and as old as eleven years old recited the Quran with good tajweed masha Allah.

However, the highlight of the presentation was the final performance by our Rainbow class (Year 6) who gave a final conclusion to what the learning focus has been for the while school during our Quran week. They read points with an accompanying PowerPoint slideshow in Arabic and in English, and even sang a nasheed that they had written themselves during their halaqah and literacy lessons. The nasheed was a harmonious culmination of a rap performed by the boys with a repeating chorus by the girls! Everyone in the audience agreed that that it was a product of the achievements that the children have made in their classrooms since their time in the school, masha Allah.

The presentation ended by a beautiful, subtle nasheed reminding all to the reward of turning to the Book of Allah and the relevance it has to our daily lives. The audience was left with a feeling of pride and hope that only by following the Book of Guidance, can there be real success in the Duniyah and the Akhirah, ameen.

Lastly, our dedicated group of mothers served everyone with some delicious snacks as a final round off to the evening. The school also took this opportunity to thank all the fathers who have helped us so sincerely over the years, and to Sister Shazia who made the amazing backdrop for the stage. It was of a very high standard and was well appreciated by the audience. We all left the hall extremely proud of all the hard work that the teachers and children have put in to this presentation to show case to the community what our school is about.
