Newsletter 15 - 12.03.2012
Dear parents/guardians,
Assalamu alaikum
Masha Allah we are half-way through this Spring half-term and the children have been busy learning their new themes. Please make a note of the following important notices:
Visit by Fire service – 13/03/2012
The children in the Early Years will be able to see a real fire engine come to the school grounds tomorrow morning insha Allah. The fire crew will give a short talk to the children about fire safety and the uses of the equipment on the fire engine. I am sure that this will be a visit that the children will remember for a long time insha Allah.
Islamic Inventions Fair – 21/03/2012
We are fast approaching the Islamic Inventions Fair next Wednesday 21/03/2012 insha Allah. Children in Key stage 2 have been busy researching and preparing for their presentations, at the Slough Library. Please note that we request parents of children in Key stage 2 (Orange-Rainbow classes) to drop their children off the library at 11am and pick up at 5pm. They do not need to come to school that day in the morning. We have arranged this time to allow parents and siblings/other children from ISF to visit the exhibitions after school hours. So please help each by car-pooling, incase this time is inconvenient for others, jazak Allah khairun. We will be sending out an off-site consent form with the children, for completion insha Allah. This exhibition is open to the public (no entrance fee) so we encourage you to invite all your friends, family and neighbours to come and see the children dress like their chosen Muslim scientist/inventor/explorer, present their beautiful 3D models and discuss with them their research.
Community Newsletter – February 2012
We will be emailing all our parents, friends and supporters an e-copy of our Community newsletter this week. This bi-annual newsletter will be highlighting all the work and achievements that the school has made over a 6-month period. It is very informative and gives you a glimpse of what our sister branch in London does also. Please forward the newsletter to everyone to raise the profile of the school in the community, insha Allah.
Mothers’ Fundraising Campaign
Masha Allah our team of mothers worked very hard in organising a ‘Snacks and Cake’ sale, last Thursday. They personally delivered the snacks and cakes to our neighbours, Interserve, who were very grateful for the food service! Our mothers also walked down the street inviting passers-by to come into our school playground and buy the snacks. Overall, they raised approximately £450 Alhamdulillah over a 2-hour period. The team is now planning the next ‘snacks and cake’ sale in the following few weeks. Please watch this space! Jazakallah u khair for all the hard work that the all the participating mothers did. Alhumdulillah
Admissions/Renewal Packs
We will be sending out the Admission and Home-school Agreement packs out over the next few days insha Allah, for the forthcoming academic year 2012-2013. Please take the time to read the documents carefully. Jazak Allah khairun.
Gold Smiling for Life Nutrition Award
We are very proud to announce that our school has qualified for the ‘Gold Smiling for Life Nutrition Award’ masha Allah. The ‘Smiling for Life Alliance’ (Berkshire Healthcare) has recognised our commitment to healthy eating and our promotion of healthy teeth and gums. The Oral Health Promotion Team were pleased to see our food policy (enclosed within the Home-school Agreement), which encourages children to drink milk and eat fruit, and does not permit junk food, chocolate or fried food, at break and lunch times masha Allah. Our food policy is now on display on the Parents information Board in the school’s foyer.
Jazak Allah Khair for your support,
Wasalam
Tahreem Sabir,
