Now in its fourth year, the ITEC course is a pioneering initiative in Islamic teacher training and education. The course combines core Islamic education concepts and principles referenced from Qur’an and Sunnah with an exploration of differing contemporary perspectives and practical Islamic strategies. It offers a unique opportunity for personal and professional development for those working in the field of Islamic education. Students have found the course inspirational. In their own words:
“The course is really inspiring and keeps you focused on why you are a teacher. Education as about inspiring children and helping them develop their fitrah.”
“It’s really useful that we look at Islamic education in the wider educational context and relate Islamic ideas to current practice.”
“The discussions in the class generate a lot of information and are thought provoking. Issues come up which have expanded my view of what we as a community have so far achieved and what problems we are still facing. The course teachers are brilliant mashaAllah.”
