Admissions

As a small Independent Primary school, ISF follows a selective admissions policy. As class sizes are small, places are limited. The following is a guideline of some admissions criteria.

  1. Parents must be devoted Muslims. For example, completing the five daily Salaah, fasting in Ramadhaan, paying Zakaah and seeking Islamic knowledge themselves. Parents must also observe the societal rules of Islam, for example the principle of segregation and the Islamic dress code for men and women (Khimaar and jilbaab). Additionally parents must be observing Shari’ah in economic transactions such as not dealing in interest or selling alcohol. The above are just examples; in short parents must see Islam as the regulator of all their actions. The school teaches Islam in accordance with the four Sunni Madhaahib and parents agree to accept this approach.
  2. Parents must agree to support the school ethos and policies.
  3. Existing siblings in the school.
  4. Those involved in the school e.g. current or old staff
  5. Location in relation to the school.
  6. Ability of parents to pay fees.
  7. Parents are willing to help regularly in school events and with fundraising efforts.

Additionally each child will be assessed to ensure that entrance into any given class is suitable for his/her ability. If the child already attends another school, a copy of the latest school report will be required.

ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE

Parents must fill in an application form and their child will be added to the waiting list. Should a place be available, parents will then be invited to an interview and assessment of their child. This is also an opportunity to see the school and the facilities available. If the interview and assessment is successful the child may be offered a place.
